Templates, not a law firm

BoatHandoff gives you document templates and checklists for a private pleasure craft sale in Canada. It is not a law firm, and using it is not legal advice. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you type and for filing any licence or trailer transfer yourself.

Not a survey

The inspection is a walk-through by the buyer and the seller. It does not certify seaworthiness, condition or value. Hire a qualified marine surveyor when the boat is financed, insured or valuable enough that a mistake is expensive.

Not Transport Canada

BoatHandoff is not affiliated with Transport Canada. The bill of sale is built to include the details Transport Canada lists as proof of ownership. You still apply for the Pleasure Craft Licence transfer on canada.ca. The buyer has 30 days. The seller should not cancel the licence.

Payments

The free bill of sale can be printed and signed by hand. Paid kits are coming soon. Stripe is off and this site does not charge a card. When a kit is offered, tax is calculated from the buyer's province and the receipt shows HST # 80698 3383 RT0001.

The inspection checklist is a buyer and seller walk-through, not a marine survey, and it does not certify seaworthiness, value or condition.
